How much branding costs (and why it varies so much)

Cover: How much branding costs (and why it varies so much)

Direct answer: a logo costs from R$ 800 to R$ 2,500 with a freelancer or tool. A branding process (research, positioning, naming, identity and manual) costs from R$ 8,000 to R$ 40,000 at an established agency, and goes beyond that in large companies.

The price varies so much because "branding" became an umbrella word. It covers everything from the art of a symbol to rebuilding a company’s positioning in the market. What you are buying changes everything, and this article separates each thing.

The market range (2025–2026)

  • Essential identity: R$ 800 – 2,500. Logo, colors, typography and files. No research, no strategy. Suits an MEI (individual microentrepreneur) and micro-companies testing an idea.
  • Professional identity: R$ 2,500 – 8,000. Logo + visual system (palette, typography, 6 to 10 applications) + short brand guide. For those who already sell and want consistency.
  • Strategic branding: R$ 8,000 – 25,000+. Market research, positioning, brand architecture, naming when needed, complete guidelines.
  • Complete brand at an established agency: R$ 15,000 – 40,000. Everything above, with a multidisciplinary team and field research.
  • Standalone naming: from ~R$ 4,000: name creation, linguistic analysis, trademark and domain check.
  • Brand manual: R$ 1,500 (short) to R$ 25,000+ (advanced guidelines).

The ranges practiced in the Brazilian market revolve around these values. What changes within each one is the depth, and that is what the next section breaks down.

What you get in each range

  • Up to R$ 2,500: you buy a logo. Probably with no research, no competitor study and no guaranteed exclusivity (the same layout may show up at another company). Basic files. It is enough for those who are starting out and need a brand "standing".
  • R$ 2,500 – 8,000: you buy consistency. A visual system that works on the website, social networks, presentation and stationery, with usage rules. The brand stops being just a symbol and becomes a standard.
  • R$ 8,000+: you buy positioning. The question stops being "what does the brand look like" and becomes "what does the brand mean, to whom, and why choose it over the competitor". It is the work for those for whom the brand is a strategic asset: industry, B2B, a company that will raise investment or scale.

What makes the price vary

  1. Scope. Naming, identity, manual and strategy are different projects. Each deliverable selected adds hours from a different team.
  2. Company size and complexity. Detailed in the next section, it is the factor that moves the price the most.
  3. Depth of research. A B2B industry brand requires understanding the decision chain, the technical competition and the industry’s standards. That is more hours of research than a fashion e-commerce brand.
  4. Team seniority and methodology. The lowest budget means a junior professional and a lean process. The highest involves a strategist, a senior designer, a copywriter and field research.
  5. INPI registration. There is the agency’s follow-up fee and the official government fee, from R$ 440 to R$ 880 per class (paid upfront, already covering 10 years). They are separate things.

Why a mid-sized company pays 3x what a startup pays for the same deliverable

It is not "because they can pay". It is real execution cost:

  • More people to align. A startup decides with one or two partners. A mid-sized company has a board of directors, sometimes a council, sometimes franchisees: each round of validation takes weeks.
  • More research. The brand already exists, already has perception in the market and a history to map before touching it. A startup starts from zero; a rebranding starts by undoing.
  • More applications. An industry with branches, fleet, uniforms, technical catalog and trade show booth needs the brand working on dozens of media: not just on Instagram.
  • More risk. Getting the rebranding of a well-known brand wrong costs sales and trust. The work of mitigating this risk (tests, validations, transition) has a price.

In practice: a startup closes in 7 to 10 business days with 1 to 2 professionals. A mid-sized company takes 2 to 3 months with the full team. The time spent is the main price driver, and it grows with company size, not linearly.

When cheap branding turns out expensive

  • Logo without exclusivity. A symbol bought on a marketplace for R$ 300 that shows up, identical, at another company in your industry.
  • A brand that doesn’t differentiate. Without strategy, the brand gives no reason to choose you, and the conversation becomes price. A strong brand is what makes the customer choose before looking at the price (see what is branding).
  • Redo in 1 to 2 years. The company grows, enters new markets, and the brand "no longer fits". You pay twice.
  • Name without a trademark check. Naming done without an INPI search results in notification, loss of domain and forced rebranding: the most expensive scenario of all.

Branding for industry and B2B: what changes

  • Search volume for the brand is low, but each decision is high-value and goes through several people. The brand has to give security to all of them.
  • The communication is about technical competence, reliability and delivery capacity: not lifestyle.
  • Consistency between website, technical catalog, sales proposal and trade show material weighs more than presence on social networks.
  • INPI registration is non-negotiable: unfair competition, public tenders and exports require a registered brand.

A real case: Fix mixed industrial maintenance and energy in a single brand. We split it into two, Fix Solutions and Fix Energy, each with its own identity, INPI registration, website and SEO.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a logo and branding?

The logo is the symbol. Branding is the strategy behind it: who the brand speaks to, what it promises, how it differentiates itself and how it is applied consistently. Buying "branding" and receiving only a logo is the most common mistake.

How much does naming alone cost?

From about R$ 4,000 for small companies, reaching R$ 14,000 or more for a mid-sized company. Includes creation of options, justification, competitor analysis and trademark and domain check.

Do I need to register the brand with INPI (Brazil’s trademark office)? How much does it cost?

Yes, if the brand is an asset of the business. The official government fee is R$ 440 to R$ 880 per class (with a discount for ME/EPP, R$ 440), paid upfront and already covering 10 years. The agency’s follow-up of the process is charged separately.

Is rebranding worth it or should I start from scratch?

If the current brand has recognition and accumulated value, rebranding preserves that capital. If it never communicated anything or has bad associations, starting from scratch may be cheaper and faster. The decision comes from a diagnostic.

How long does a branding project take?

From 7 to 10 business days for a startup; from 30 to 45 days for a small company; from 2 to 3 months for a mid-sized company. The timeline grows with the number of people involved in approval and the depth of the research.

Does cheap branding work for a microenterprise?

For an MEI (individual microentrepreneur) validating an idea, a well-made logo of R$ 800 to R$ 2,000 solves it. The problem is buying that thinking it is a brand process, and discovering the difference when the business grows.
